This set of stencils was created as a response to a series of

lectures by professor Phil Baynes at Central St. Martins on

the history of Typography.

The concept of a stencil is fast reproducibility, which

opposes the idea of hand-drawn letters. Therefore, using

the historical references presented during the lectures, and

recreating the old forms with a parallel pen, the typeface

fidalgo was created. It finds its own way to make traditional

letterforms askew, the same way that the chosen media

(stencils) does to calligraphy.
